Beeler served with the Allegheny Artillery and was with Jackson's wing.


June 23rd, 1862 - marched 26 miles camped at Beaver dam station on central RR Hanover county Va

24th - in camp ordered to cook two days rashens and ready to march

25th - made a short march the road was bad (****Anyone know what road he is referring to?*****)

26th - marched to Ashland hanover Co Va

27th - resieved 2 days rashens of crackers and marched at 7 o'clock Thursday at 5 o'clock the report of heavy canonading South East of richmond 9 o'clock the firing ceased we are now 8 miles of richmond ____ marched at 9 o'clock and pased over part ____ the battle field seen numbers of dead men laying on the field we went in position to hold no yankeys seen this day

Sunday 29th - we moved out 3 or 4 miles and staid in the road close to a yankey hospitle Gen Mcgruder attacked the enemy late in the evening

30th - marched at 3 o'clock a m croped the chickahomony swamp haped over the batle field of the enemy dead laying all over the field we unhiched about sundown the ____ enemy opened ___ a thirty two p d (32lb) ____ late in the evening

July 1, 1862 - orders to move took up the line of march double quick unill we reached the scene of action we took a position we was on the about ___ 5 hours we fired all our amunition away and left the field with 1 man wounded firing continued until 10 o'clock in the evening

2nd - we in camp 1/2 mile in rear of the field training this morning no fighting

3rd - in the same camp

4th - I went ___ the batlefield ____ found a great loss on both sides

5th - matched and went in camp in a large clover field 20 or 30 miles S E of richimond

The above mentions that on the 23rd Jackson conferred with Lee at the Dabbs' house, and then proceeded on the road to Ashland, which was reached on the 25th.
