I recently joined the forum. I am a direct lineal descendant of Col. John A Koltes, a German emigre, who commanded the 73rd Regiment Infantry of Philadelphia troops. Col Koltes was killed on August 30th, 1862 at the Second Battle of Bull Run. I have visited several Civil War battlefields including: Manassas Battlefield, Gettysburg, and Vicksburg, among others.
I am interested in learning about the children and grandchildren of Col Koltes. I believe that Col Koltes married Pauline Knopfloch (1834-1888) with whom he had four? children: John 2 (3/19/1857 - 3/26/1894), Pauline Koltes Eck? - others I am uncertain about.
John 2 (1857-1894) married Carrie [Caroline] Pfitzenmaier (1857-1944, m 1881). John 2 and Carrie had four children: John 3 (9/28/1883 - 1944), George, Eugene, and Elmer.
John 3 (1883-1944) [my grandfather] married Mary Woodward [my grandmother]. I'm enjoying the the research and discovery process, and I'm very glad that I found this site!
