I recently acquired these incredible original pieces by cartoonist and comic illustrator Jack Davis. Davis created the distinctive look of the Crypt Keeper in the Tales from the Crypt comics and is best known for his work with Mad Magazine. His exagerated anatomy style and deep ragged detail is very recognizable. Davis was from Georgia and his Confederate sympathies were evident in much of his art. He did several series of Confederate Generals and this group is one of them inked and water colored.

This set includes Lee, Forrest, Beauregard and Jackson. While highly accurate, you can still see the comic style and exagerated features. I saw these and was immediately drawn to them and had to have them.

I thought yall might like to see them. My photos are not the best but you get the idea.

Interesting prints. The PTG is a little scary

If you are familiar with the work of Jack Davis, you know the distorted bodies and gangly arms/legs are his signature. He did several of these historic pieces that restrained that syle, but you can still see it in these, especially in their legs and feet.

They certainly have a comic book look to them, but that is what drew me to them. And yes some of the uniform items, red plumes, etc. are fantastical, but that's what make these unique.

Another thing that is interesting on the Forrest one, is he misspelled Nathan as "Nathon", strange.

Sorry I'm a little late to this thread. But I just found this Grant print by Jack Davis. I bought it off Craigslist for 40 bucks. I didn't realize they were pretty rare until doing some digging. I can't find much information on them outside of some auction descriptions. The back of the print has some 1950s newspapers attached to it for backing on the poster board.
