Some fragments of information found are:
. In his written work, 'Mosby and his Men', Crawford states (at page 14) that he held office in the U.S. Treasury Dept. at Washington D.C. for seven years prior to 1861 (meaning he must have started working there around 1853).
. In his same work, Crawford mentions (at page 95) that his native state was Virginia.
. In another work, 'Mosby's Rangers', author James Williamson does not show his name being recorded as present at the Second Reunion of the unit at Marshall (Old Salem) on Aug. 14, 1895, nor is he listed as a known surviving member of the unit at the time.
Piecing together these bits, best guess is that he was born circa 1835 (or earlier), possibly in Virginia, and that he may have died prior to 1895, although he could have just disappeared at this time.
