J.E.B. Stuart's snake belt

When referring to a snake belt they mean an English snake buckle like this soldier is wearing. It's possible he wore one but don't recall seeing an image of him wearing one.

I don't have a photo yet but... but in the American Uniforms coloring book I have its a drawing of JEB Stuart wearing his battle uniform with a snake belt in a American Uniforms coloring book that I have on my shelves...

It's called artist's or creative license. Same reason motion pictures depict things as they do.

From a common online definition.

I'd be leary of that, there's no doubt in an actual photo or some eyewitness description of a known source. That said it's possible he could've had one, they were very popular for literally hundreds of years.

Here's an image from the book I have:

For comparison, here is General Stuart's actual uniform jacket, etc. No yellow linings in the lapels, etc.

The illustration from the coloring book appears to be inspired by this one of a Confederate cavalry major from Phillip Haythornthwaite's Uniforms of the American Civil War (1976):

That fanciful illustration has been very influential in movies and illustrations, etc.
