Greetings, my Bro and I visited this Battlefield in may of 2014 and somehow we missed the Iron Brigade Monuments. Planning to go back in another year at a slower pace, but where are the monuments located ; Close to Dunker church...or ?

thank you

Only the 84th New York has a monument from the REAL Iron Brigade.

Okay. I'm chuckling. I can't argue with your assertion of the "Real" monument. Now...I'm not beating you up here. I'm really not doing that. I promise I'm not doing that. I just want you to know that Col. Joseph Orville Shelby's Iron Brigade rode around a 1,600 circuit of part of Missouri during their great raid of October, 1863. As a result, he got promoted to Brigadier General. There was more than one iron brigade.

I knew about them too. But they weren't at Antietam. The two Army of the Potomac Iron Brigades were.

Gents .... the Union 2nd and 6th Wisconsin through the Cornfield ~ but as mentioned it appears the 19th Indiana is the only monument.....

The original Iron Brigade was made up of several New York regiments that would ultimately serve in the same division as the western Iron Brigade.

I was simply being a smart aleck as is my wont.
