Inverted Star/Texas Flag

Got a question. An acquaintance recently inquired about a Texas flag that was given to him. He thinks it may be an actual flag from the Civil War. It's a 3×5 Texas flag like the current Texas flag except the Star is inverted (two points up). He said the bottom half is more of a reddish maroon that the usual red you see on a flag. I'm pretty sure he meant bottom third instead of half. And I failed to ask he what material the flag is made of. Plus he thinks the star is embroidered. Any ideas as to what it may be? Someone suggested a funeral flag for fallen a comrade.

I've seen Texas flags from the era with a tilted star, including the state colors of the 1st Texas Infantry, as well as the 5th Texas Infantry's First National with a Lone Star. I don't recall any state flags with an upside-down star at the moment, though.

Not a Texas state flag, but the 6th & 15th Texas (consolidated) in Granbury's Brigade applied an upside-down star to their Hardee flag: https://civilwartalk.com/threads/battle-flag-of-the-6th-15th-texas-consolidated.145188/

He claims it's 2 points up, not just tilted.
