III cent coin mystery

[Story]

Haven't found this coin discussed before so start here on something minted for buying stamps.

Three-cent silver - Wikipedia

Now for the mystery - found this in the wild, front is what you'd expect for a coin in heavy rotation back in the day.

But the obverse....​

I don't know what's going on with that.

Any reasonable suggestions?​

These are trimes, there is a nickle counterpart too with a liberty head. Sometimes coins were turned into love tokens with scroll work and initials, given to loved ones.

Is this coin thinner than normal? Like if someone planned off the back and did a little engraving.

That definitely took a steady hand these things are so tiny. You've got an unfinished love token. I have one on a dime I'll try to get a picture to you

It is tiny, 14 mm not much.A dime is 17.91mm. isn't it?

Yes, not much more room. I have a trime it's like the size of a pinky fingernail.
