Aside from colorizing civil war photos, are any of you good at identifying them? I've seen certain photos of unidentified officers and I was wondering if somebody could identify them.

For example here's a picture of a Civil War Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel from the site http://www.flickr.com/photos/thehenryford/5123427102/sizes/o/in/set-72157625134661347/

Can anyone identify him?

Alright then how about this one, another picture of a Civil War Lieutenant Colonel or Colonel from flickr.com:

Can anyone identify this guy?

There were many hundreds -- possibly thousands of Lt.Cols/Cols in the Union army. It would be a very outside chance (next to impossible) if any one could be identified from a single photo. If the cdv has photographers' markings, indicating where he was located, it might help to narrow down the field. Otherwise, it's pretty much a waste of time trying.

I agree with John. More info needed, Chris. Be it the photographer, the photography company, any kind of markings on the back of the pics - designs, initials, etc.

Very nice pics, by the way.
