While researching my book Hiram's Honor: Reliving Private Terman's Civil War (see
http://tinyurl.com/86kkxcs for a review), I met with Albert Castel in Hillsdale, Michigan. We talked many times over a meal at the Finish Line restaurant in Hillsdale about what it would have been like to be a Civil War soldier. I learned of his writings but the depth of his knowledge conveyed in our conversation made for more realism in my writing and for this I am most grateful. Being of advanced age, I believe he is now residing at a care center in Ohio, at least this was the last I heard from a historian at Hillsdale College.
