...but it freaked me out.
It was at the Audubon State Historic-Site. They were having a reenactment there and it was cold. Now the Audubon State Historic-Site is in St. Francisville,LA. Now St. Francisville is the home to the Myrtles and many other beautiful and supposedly haunted homes. Also the town of St. Francisville is a few miles north of the Port Hudson battle grounds. The Audubon State Historic-Site is the Oakley Plantation house and the surrounding grounds. This is were John James Audubon stayed in the late summer of 1821 and painted some birds.
I digress back to the story. It was below freezing this January night my fire was almost dead, i was in joggin pants, wool uniform pants, jogging shirt and my period wool workman's smock shirt thingy, it was quite...you know the creepy kind of quite in a horror movie before something happens, the wend was blowing and i had a draft in my tent (i left my iron tent steaks at the house and i had to use my summer wooden ones that give me a breeze way) I got good and warm and almost to sleep when nature called. I took off some layers, put on my brogans, and walked up to the bath rooms. The walk way was covered in trees and the moon was casting shadows on the path already, and as i approached the back of the house i heard a noise like someone was walking on either the second or third floor of this three story house. I brushed it off figuring it was some animal or someone of the staff. When i was heading back to camp my phone slid out of my pocket and onto the ground behind me i turned around to pick up my phone and when i was standing back up i looked at the third floor and there was this white misty figure standing up there. Needless to say i hauled butt back to camp, re-bundled, and slept with one eye open.
