In summer of 2023 I was given a copy of a diary written by a woman named Lizzie Anderson during the Civil War near Loudon Tennessee. At first, I thought it was just a little local diary, but then realized the greater significance when I discovered that the skirmish at Huff's Ferry took place almost literally in the diary writer's backyard. I was very excited by this find, to say the least. I have transcribed the diary and am researching the history around it and will have it published this summer. If you live in East Tennessee or the surrounding area and would like to come hear me talk about the diary project, I will be speaking at Trinity Methodist Church in Lenoir City, Tennessee at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 21.
