"They Talked It Over - With Me Sitting on the Horse", illustrated by Howard Pyle from "Landegon" by William Gilmore Beymer, published in Harper's Magazine, November 1909.
This was third article in a series dealing with the work of the scouts, spies, and men of the secret-service in the Civil War.

I saw the title of this and wondered what a WWII journalist had to do with the Civil War. Duh!:redface:
Whilst I can't say I like the painting, I most certainly like the style of this Pyle's painting. Thanks for posting
