Found a copy of this on my bookshelf that I forgot I had a copy of. I believe from my college days.

I started reading through it, seems like its going to read as more of an academic, analytical text than more of a narrative which is what I typically prefer reading.

Anyone have any general thoughts or impressions?

I consider that to be a classic. I didn't find it to be dry but it isn't Shelby Foote either. It's on my short list of recommended reading for folks just getting started learning about he war.
