I will be attending the Company of Military Historians annual conventions next weekend. One of our seminars is Horace Mewborn "Colonel John Mosby: Master Partisan". I will probably go to the seminar but might skip it. Has anyone read Mewborn's book on Mosby?

I will try to have fun Union. I wrote an article for the company's magazine and it needed a bit of rewrite, so I guess I will be buying the publishing committee and magazine editors a round of red pop at the motel watering hole Friday night. Hence my need to nap during a morning seminar or two.

Our tours will be to Seven Days' Battlefield, Siege of Petersburg Battle sites, Sailor's Creek Battlefield, and Museum of the Confederacy at Appomattox. This seems like a load and I might want to nap during one or two of the morning seminars. Bruce M. Venter's "Kill Jeff Davis" The Kilpatrick-Dahlgren Raid on Richmond might also make the skip the seminar and take a nap list as well.

After the seminar I have a question. John Mosby did cost the Uni a great deal of money, but his intent to draw Union forces form the front did not work out real well. In most cases the Union used 2nd line troops to deal with Mosby. So besides the cost, did Mosby's raids have any important impact on the war?
