Lincoln Hometown hero- or not

Not sure if this has ever been discussed here.

Almost unbelievable, but the 1860 election in Kentucky went terribly wrong for Lincoln. Of the 4 candidates, Lincoln finished dismally last in his birth state of Kentucky.

Has to be a great trivia question here. The most popular president in our history, received a paltry 1364 votes in Kentucky. Seems I read something to the effect, that no winning president ever garnered so few votes in any state- let alone his home state. Sound correct?

Seems there must be more than just his position on slavery. Thoughts?

John C. Breckinridge was Kentucky's homeboy having been born in Lexington and was a former Vice-President, a former Representative and Senator from the state. Although Lincoln was born there, he was a nobody except as a threat to slavery for some of her citizens.
