I still have some work to do in cleaning up the food forum

See this thread to find out what I'm talking about

For the time being we are putting the food forum on moderation. I'll be checking each post to ensure that there are no copyrighted photos, recipes and whatnot.

I'll be checking in 2-3 times a day to approve posts.

Thanks for all your efforts. Now I understand the implications of the liverwurst sandwich photo.....

Really appreciate your work on this kind of thing. It must be a big task, and not always noticed because it's behind the scenes.

Are there any written items in the world more stolen than recipes?! I swear half the the time I go online looking for a recipe idea I see the EXACT same recipe that I just looked at on a well-known food site reprinted word for word on a blog - alongside the cute story of how the writer "invented" this.

Perhaps we need a general reminder of what copyright infringement actually is ... photos can be pulled all the time from various sites with little to no knowledge of the original author of the image. And maybe they've pulled the image from somewhere else to begin with. So, how do you know a photo is copyrighted? And how do you know when you are infringing copyright?

I can't believe someone lost their mind over an image of a liverwurst sandwich ... unless it was the crown jewel of liverwurst sandwiches!

Seriously. Now I'm just getting hungry :hungry:

Basically if it's not in the public domain, ( if you go to Creative Commons and look at the photos each one has rules on how the photos can be shared) Or if you dont following the usage rules listed, it's not a safe photo.

Taking a photo off a blog is not ok. Pinterest doesn't count as a source because the photo came from somewhere else.

So yes checking each photo posted is going to take work and time. But we have to protect ourselves. We can't keep getting sued.

And it irritates me to no end that our civil war website got whacked for a very non civil war image. It was a 💩 photo and it shouldn't have even been here. Grrrr!!!!
