Finally got the Mountain Howitzer for our Park Civil War Memorial!
Here's a pic of the cannon maker (Mr. Strick) and myself.
(sorry about the other post, it didn't work out very well)
Mr. Strick does EXCELLENT work! (he uses mesquite for it's durability), and better yet, he is going to include a limber for the Piece in a month or so!

Cdog asks:
Are you going to fire charges or this just for display?
It's set up for display, there is a barrel plug in it. If the plug were removed it could be used for firing. Most of Mr. Stricks work is geared for re-enactment units and he built this one the same , (except for the plug). Were at Picacho Peak State Park. (about midway between Tucson and Phoenix on I-10). There was a skirmish here in 1862. Three Union Soldiers were killed, three more were wounded and three Confederates were captured. It's about as far west as the Civil War got. This Howitzer is a big thing for our little memorial, I hope to add another monument and some interp signage along a handicap approved memorial walkway over the next few years. (but it all depends on budget)
Sorry, I don't know all the technicals for this Piece. If I remember correctly, Mr. Sprick stated that after a certain depth of full size boring, he could drop the powder chamber size down to a 2 inch diameter to reduce the powder charge and yet increase range. (does that sound right?)
