I'd like some help researching my Great Great Great Grandpa, I know he was in the 13th Alabama Partisan Rangers Company B but that's all I know about him. His name was Levi Robbins and he was born in 1823, died circa 1880. Any information is appreciated.

Sorry, I forgot a little information, he married a Sara E. Youngblood. That was his wifes name, and I know he had atleast one child named Harvy N.

Don't know if this will help but you might follow the link to the 56th Reg and see what you can come up with.

------------------------------------------------------
The 13th Battalion had been organized with six companies on 28 August 1862. It was assigned to the Dept. of Mississippi and East Louisiana (December 1862-June 1863) and first served as scouts and pickets. With about 250 men, it fought at the battle of King's Creek under Gen'l Daniel Ruggles. It was consolidated with the 15th Battalion on 8 June 1863 to form the 56th Regiment, Partisan Rangers.

That's a good start. I know some of our "detective" folks are in and out during the summer, with vacation and so on, but hopefully they'll check in soon and give you a hand. Be patient and stay cool while you wait!

Two Levis show up in different battalions--one 13th Ala. and one 12th Ala.

And then you have changes as the 13th is sent to the 56th--

ROBBINS, Levi possibly 13th Bttn. Ala. Cav. Partisan Rangers, Co. B 08/05/1832 06/14/1910 Graham Cem., Mount Olive, Jefferson County, Alabama

Is this him? Looks like he had some bad luck.

September 7, 1855 Blount County, Alabama Levi Robbins b. August 5, 1832 married Nancy Gunter b. abt 1833

September 1, 1857 Blount County, Alabama Levi Robbins b. August 5, 1832 married Mary Jane Blackmon b. abt 1838

And maybe the same guy in this death record?

ROBINS, Levi 12th Ala. Cav., Co. B 08/05/1832 06/10/1914 Graham Cem., Mt. Olive
Community, Jefferson Co.,
Alabama

Looks like the same birth/death date, but differences in enlistment. Seems to be the same Levi who married both women (suspecting one probably died, maybe childbirth?)

I looked on Footnote - I found several records from three different regiments: 13th, 12th and 56th. Nothing of note though, except he seems to have gone missing/AWOL briefly a couple of times.

I wouldn't mind seeing the documents none the less, i signed up for the 7 day free trial on footnote.com and myself could not find anything on Levi probably due to lack of experience with the website though. Found some on my other Great Great Great Grandpa, but not Levi.

Under 'Civil War - Confederate Soldier Service Records - Alabama' search for:

Leir Robbins (transcription error)
Levi Robins (one 'b')

Appreciate it man, I think they might have added on an extra b at some point because I've noticed a few of my ancestors with just one b instead of two.

I appreciate the info guys. I just spoke to a Genealogist for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, he said he was going to send me a lot of info on all of my ancestors that he could find. I appreciate the help though guys, much thanks.
