Help with photospheres

Nice tutorial, CWIC. I think some of these, like the one at Antietam, were not done with a smartphone or tablet but some sort of device that captures a 360 degree view as you walk, similar to that on top of the Google street view cars.

For instance, see the reflection in the glass here:unsure::

Also noticed that the Wilson's Creek battlefield can be 'toured' as well:

You are right, there is a different camera that can do it while you walk. Good find on the image reflection it shows it nicely.

I mentioned it in one of the other threads but you can find Googles cameras for this here and then scroll down to "Google Fleet". I suspect the one that was used on these trails is the "Street View Trekker" backpack.

If you want to take these kind of photo's yourself with just one click you can do it with this camera the Richo Theta S (or it's predecessor the Theta M15). The Theta S is $349 and the Theta M15 is $299. I know a few people that have the original M15 and it works pretty good. I would love to get the Theta S to take with me on a trip, would make taking these with just one click so easy. You can also download Google Street View app and then Sync it with the Theta S via your phone so that when you take a pic it will get the GPS coordinates and then upload it straight into Google Street View.

Thanks for the info, the Street View Trekker definitely appears to be it.

I do have an Android smartphone (Galaxy S4), so I should be able to install photosphere on it. Would love to try it out on the next battlefield visit!

You don't need to install Photosphere, it is part of Google Camera. If you want to upload it to Street View, then download the Google Street View app and use the camera option, it will use the Photosphere feature to allow you to take the pictures.
