I have this muzzleloader that has been passed down to me. The gun is not in great shape but I am trying to find out as much infomation on it as possible. I found similar guns but this one seems odd. Every picture I found has a crown and 1861 above Tower on the side plate. This gun it is reversed, tower is above the 1861 date. Also it only has two barrle bands on it. There are some markings on the bottom of the stock but I can not make them out. The ramrod has the #193 on it. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank You!!

The crown meant that it was built for service in the British Army, w/o the crown it was for export. It sounds like it is an Enfield and if the barrel is shorter and only two bands, it is a sergeant's model. There are a great many people on this forum that know a great deal more about these than me and I'm sure that they will give you the straight scoop on what you have. Also, it is likely .577 caliber.
