Help with .ged file

Please someone help me figure out what I need to view a .ged file. I received an ancestry-related .ged file going back to James H. Merrill's father, who I believe had two sons. The descendant of James' brother told me to use one of the free ancestry sites, but I'm just not finding the right one. Thanks, Eric.

While I know nothing about them they are supposedly free to download.
