Hello, I would appreciate any help in researching a possible Civil War ancestry... a Matthew Heath m. Elizabeth Clements in 1831 in Greene County Georgia. Matthew was born around 1808 in Georgia (likely in or around Greene Co).

In the 1860 census he was living with family in Greene Co., GA. By 1870 he was living in Whitfield Co., GA.

I see two Civil War records pop up on Ancestry for a M. H. Heath and a Matthew Heath who both enlisted in Company F, Georgia 27th Infantry Battalion.

I can't seem to find any more info about them. Looking in the 1860 census I see one other Matthew Heath old enough (living in his household so likely his son), though looking or any more info.

The last Confederate Conscription in 1864, began taking men ages 17-50, the Matthew born in 1808, was probably too old.
The Matthew & the M.H. Heath is probably the same man. There was a Micajah F. Heath in Company (or Battery) D 28th Georgia Heavy Artillery. He's shown enlisting in August, 1863. The 27th GA Battalion wasn't organized till Nov.1863. Hope this helps !

Cant seem to find any Heath in this Company

Matthew and MH Heath appear to be the same person, age 17 upon enlistment in 1864. Perhaps the son of the 1808 Matthew Heath.

Added -- this young soldier is likely the 14-year-old Matthew that appears in the elder Matthew and Elizabeth Heath's household in the 1860 census.
