I have been working on a unit project. The reconstruction of the 13th Ky USA colors. The research is finished. The National Colors are finished. Poles, Finial, Finnels, are completed. The Regimental Colors are have finished. Hand painted flags do take time....

What I am missing is Authenic Flag cords and tassles. They should be in regulation blue and white for Infantry. I can not locate a source. I have seen a few units with the proper tassles, and too many with solid gold ones!! :noway:

Does anyone know of a person I can talk to about making the tassles??

After that, the next project is oil cloth covers.. I'm not sure about those either..:D

Thank you,

If there is anybody who knows who can make these cords and tassels are:

U.S. Army Quarter-Master (they have contracts for the military);

U.S. Army National Guard - Local General in your State should have a lead to such;

American Legion Posts - They often have connections.

Links should be available. If you run into a speed bump let me know ...I'll research it as I do for all the other inquires.

Thank you, but ran into walls. I did meet one man that use to be a QM and museum currator. He knew of a fellow, but sadly didn't have the information, and never got back to me. Most simple use gold cords you see on today's flags. Have not tried the USANG. I'll ask my local unit. I'll ask the Legion post too.

I've seen some for sale on E-Bay. Use search word "Flag cords" "Hat cords" "Flag tassels"

If you don't find something there, post here and I'll see if being near Washington, D.C., with local calls, if I can't get better tracks for you to link up with.

Custom work...I am of the opinion, that individuals like Glenda Schoeder (Garments by Glenda), to whom does work for historical sites/places might be able to have links as well.

Keep in touch on your progress sir.

Indeed a very, very good link.

But, if he comes up with a goose egg--want him to know we're (in a general sense) not here to quit helping him.
