I know this isn't Civil War related but I'm hoping some of the better sleuths here can help me out with this one.

I inherited this holster from my wife's grandfather along with some antique lever guns. He passed away when she was a child so I never had the opportunity to meet him. I'm just trying to figure out the potential provenance of the holster.

This is the holster:

I don't think this is an Indian Wars era holster. I think it's a later reproduction based on the more modern snap. Some Googling tells me this snap is likely from roughly the WW2 era.

The name "Paul Stewart" has no family connection. I have no idea what "T-126447" is referring to.

The only thing I can find that potentially makes since is this:

My wife's grandfather was from Denver. Other than that, the connection seems like a stretch but it's all I can find that makes sense.

For the Colt 1911 or 1911A1, it's a shoulder holster from WW2.
Interesting. The aforementioned Paul Stewart that I found served in the Navy enlisting after HS. He was born in '25 so that would put him graduating HS probably in '43 or '44.

If I could definitely tie this back to him I'd donate it to that museum. I reached out to them awhile back and they got back to me saying they'd look into it but that's the last I heard from them.
