My son at Hazel Grove. My Great Grandfather's brother George was wounded in the chest somewhere here and after release from the hospital spent the rest of the war in the 24th VRC.

The park service has done a great job of keeping trees out of that view so you can stand at each spot and see the other one

I'm sorry to say that I stupidly missed Hazel Grove on my last April visit and contented myself with only a long-distance view of Fairview from here at Chancellorsville.

James, I have to admit that Hazel Grove is a magnet for me. I cannot go to Virginia and not go there. A couple of my favorite dining establishments and watering holes are very nearby in Fredericksburg and it's smack in the middle of everything. One of our favorite places to stay in Virginia is a log cabin at Presidential Resort, literally just on the other side of a fence from Hazel Grove. You cannot travel through central Virginia without getting real close to it.

They are a fantastic organisation. I had the pleasure of visiting a few NPS sites from Washington DC , VA , NC & GA on my last trip over. They were all maintained to a high standard and the signage was second to none.
