Hi, I'm not sure if "Book Launch" is the best forum or "Member Review"? So apologies if I've got it wrong.

I've upgraded my free eBook on the battle of Hatcher's Run February 5-7 1865. It now comes with a snazzy cover! There are no radical changes, but I've added some testimonials (with more on the way) from senior historians, added a bibliography, expanded a few issues, added a few more references and photos etc. It's free to read at https://www.hatchersrunbattle.com/
The text is even perfectly readable on smartphones. I would very much welcome any feedback readers had about the book. The website also includes my recent interview on Gerald Prokopowicz's CivilWarTalk Radio, Episode 2207, Oct 22, 2025, Nigel Lambert, Hatcher's Run
Episode 2207: "Hatcher's Run" with Nigel Lambert

So feel free to leave comments either here, or on the blog page of the website, or on the battle's Facebook page "Battle of Hatcher's Run," we now have over 160 members, so I may have to stop calling it the neglected battle!

Thank You,

Nigel

It's a darn good book with lots of factual details!

Hi just to update everyone. Following feedback, I have now created a 1 PDF format for my eBook, as opposed to each chapter having a PDF. This is less cumbersome I suppose, and easier to share. I have used the opportunity to embellish a couple of sections thanks to material sent to me mainly via the Battle of Hatchers Run Facebook group. I will upload the new format on the website www.hatchersrunbattle.com in the coming days, but I've attached the PDF below - free to read and no hidden cookies! I'd also like to recognize the support Wilson Greene gave to my eBook at the recent Central Virginia Battlefield Trust Spring Conference. Feedback and reviews of my eBook are most gratefully received. Thank You, Nigel Lambert

Thanks, @KepiBrit. I will undoubtedly refer to it from time to time.

Excellent. Nice to see this battle get some much deserved attention. I heard your interview on CWTR with Gerald P. It's was very interesting.
Will you be producing a physical book on this battle in the future. Would love to add this to my ever growing collection of Petersburg related titles.

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I enjoyed my chat with Gerald. The issue I face in these interviews / presentations is that an obvious first question is "how come a retired UK scientist is currently the go-to person on this fairly obscure civil war battle"? This can take ages to explain, and fascinating as it is, it eats into the time for talking about the battle and why it's been overlooked.
I see myself as a "content creator" rather than an author as such. I like my eBook project, it comes with lots of advantages for me. if I made a "traditional" book with a publisher, its sales would be hampered by there being a free book on the internet, and one in color and that was being updated yearly as new material emerged. With the 1 PDF format I've just shared here, it's easy to print off and ring-bind, for those who prefer paper books. I know several people who have done that. Although I am "of an age" I have got used to reading it on my smartphone! I'm flattered to have many endorsements of my work, some are in the eBook, which greatly helps with providing credibility. it was thanks to Wilson Greene who mentioned my work in an earlier Gerald interview that helped me get that gig.

I don't care HOW you became the go-to person for information about Hatcher's Run. I'm just glad that you DID!

Thanks guys, I'll mention your comments when next I get asked the question!
The Facebook Blog "The Battle of Hatcher's Run" has certainly helped to raise awareness, and when Wilson Greene's and Sean Chick's Petersburg books come out with chapters about the battle, they will really increase awareness. I'm still on the case of getting new site boards at the battlefield and getting a greater buy-in from The Pamplin Center given it's proximity to the battlefield.
Hope you all enjoy the book and always happy to receive feedback.
