Looking on the internet and saw this musket. Description says as found condition, shortened stock, barrel lock retains good clean markings. 32" barrel 49" overall, 69cal. Looking for a wall hanger. This is an auction. Any ideas what I should spend based on description? Attached are pictures. Thanks.

😬, unsure what you should pay.

Respectfully, And this is just my personal preference, I would prefer a "unaltered" firearm as a wall hanger. But to each their own. I would continue to save a few more bucks and keep looking around, as you will probably find a nicer one in very little time and be much more pleased looking at it hanging on the wall.

I'm sure more intelligent people then myself will have better advice.

But in the end you have to be happy with the outcome.

Good luck.

I would not buy it even using LP's money:nah disagree:

Are you looking for a Civil War era musket/rifle or just a general muzzle loader for display? Might want to check out this link if the latter (or even if the former)

I don't necessarily disagree with those telling you to save your money for something better. However, I do think muskets modified post-war can be an interesting part of a collection. That said, they are relatively common and not highly sought after, so if you keep bidding $100-$150 on examples like this one you will win one eventually. I have a Confederate marked P53 that I only paid $110 for because it was altered to be a shotgun, I think it's kind of neat.
