Christians (and I am one) believe that Christ rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. They also believe that at the end of time, the just will rise from their graves. In the Gettysburg National Cemetery, the bodies have been placed a bit differently than the usual configuration. The head is toward the Soldiers Monument at the center of the semi-circle of graves, while the feet are away from the monument. For example, Private Weaver is laid on the other side of his marker from where the photographer was standing, with his head closer to his marker, and his feet extending away from it. Supposedly, the idea is that when the men rise on the last day, they will be looking out toward the fields where they fought, and the nation, as represented by the monument, will be behind them.
