Everyone, please look again at the first image. Just beyond the general, look at that black bearded colonel with the red sash holding the horse with the while blaze on his nose. I am pretty sure that is Robert "Black Bob" McCulloch of my home town. ...and I'm pretty sure this is the photo that inspired that particular image of him in the painting.

There was a debate one time about who that was - Black Bob or Nathan Boone. Never did settle it! But seeing that pic you posted, my money is on Black Bob now. He was in the background in the picture Southern Steel, waving his shot-up hand and coming to Forrest's rescue at Okolona - and he needed rescuing!

Hey, Diane, I remember when you posted an image of "Southern Steel" and pointed Black Bob out to me. I had specifically requested everyone to point him out when they could. You didn't disappoint! Thanks again!
