How many people actually have visited a place that was very important during the Gettysburg campaign? If you're like me, you enjoy finding these obscure places that you read about, but are in the middle of "no where."

The Northern Central Railway in southern York County runs occasional excursions to Hanover Junction. Mr. LoyaltyOfDogs and I rode the train there last fall. A fun little trip (with a Lincoln presenter aboard) who tried out his work in progress--a speech to be delivered at Gettysburg--for the passengers when we got to Hanover Junction. The site hosts a little museum with exhibits not only about Lincoln's stop there but a "visit" as well by Confederate soldiers. Details about the train are at the railroad's website: https://www.northerncentralrailway.com

We just happened to be fortunate that the museum was open in connection with the train excursion. It appears, from the York County Department of Parks and Recreation website, that operating hours at the Hanover Junction museum (and also the 1940s-era restored museum at New Freedom, PA) may be subject to change. The site includes a brochure dated 2022 that recommends contacting the administrative headquarters for information on hours of operation for the museums. Both the email address and phone number are provided at the link.
