Greetings from Upstate NY!

Hello and welcome from 35 miles north of Gettysburg! Are you planning to join us for the CWT Invasion of Gettysburg in September? Here's a link: http://civilwartalk.com/threads/let...kend-of-sept-16th-thru-sept-18th-2016.119808/

i will be in Antietam on the 17th, but as we are headed back north it seems that stopping in Gettysburg for this would not be out of the question in the least bit! and it would be great to get a drink at the saloon and chat with Eric L, you are correct, you never know who you will bump into there!

hello everyone! figured id introduce myself!
i am Thomas Grott of Kinderhook NY, life long civil war nerd and finally looking to get started in the hobby/lifestyle of living history. I'm trying to gather whatever gear and clothing i can at this point so if anyone in the greater NY area or surroundings can help it would be greatly appreciated. ! always looking for fellow civil war buffs to discuss history with! just made my 5th trip of 2016 to Gettysburg for the anniversary and managed to find myself a girl that will be road tripping with me in Sept down the blue ridge to asheville NC, stopping at any and every battlefield and point of interest in between and ending at Antietam on the anniversary! i have also been cataloging civil war soldiers graves in the upstate area so if anyone local wanted to meet up I'm usually at Albany rural cemetery twice a week.
looking forward to a new chapter!

Welcome, Thomas, to our forum. I'm sure you will enjoy your time here.

I did some 'time' in upstate New York with the US Army at Ft. Drum, just north of Watertown. Served with the 10th Mountain Division, Light Infantry, from 1988 to 1991. Coldest weather I have ever known in my military service.

Again, welcome.

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Welcome from Pennsylvania, from an individual who lived in New York for 60 years.
