Grape Rot in 1862 - GRAPE COFFEE. - A subscriber at Dalton, Ga. writes us:
The Grape crop in this section was an entire failure last year. the Catawba was mostly all destroyed by mildew and rot; while the Pauline, Black July and Norton's Virginia kept themselves sound and healthy. I for my part, have done with the Catawba for ever, and will subsistute for it the "Norton's Virginia."
Roasted grape seed is a very pleasant substitute for coffee. I have tried it, and find it better than the genuine Java.
