History Granola or also called Granula

There was a question about granola which was in an apple recipe I had posted in Lincoln's favorite foods. It has been around since 1863. James Caleb Jackson was the inventor of Granula. This was first dry/cold breakfast cereal.

I knew about crazy Kellogg - there's a funny movie about this with Matthew Broderick, The Road to Wellville. But had no idea granola was invented even earlier. Thanks for the info!

That film was based on a novel by T. C. Boyle with the same title. I can definitely recommend that one, it's worth reading!

The breakfast cereal industry is huge! Store aisles are teeming with such a variety of colorful boxes. Each promises to be better than the next - some coated in sugar, some chocolate flavor, artificial fruit flavors and some in wild colors in shapes of odd items. I still favor the flavor of plain corn flakes (not sugar coated), plain shredded wheat (the kind that looks like a tan brillo pad) and sometimes raisin bran. Boring as breakfast to some, I guess.
