While at an antique shop yesterday hoping to find someone period relics (Ideally a saber) and I came across this item. I know its the right period, just not sure if it is worth $95.
It won't hold water. Look at the gaps in the wood. It's shrunk and you need to wet it to get the wood to expand again. Hopefully it does. Yeah, I'd buy it. They used to teach bucket making at Conner Prairie (Fishers, Indiana). Same principles as barrel making. Staves have to be cut at a certain angle so when assembled, they are tight and hold liquid.
