I am posting this poem here. It is modern, but I think the Ladies of the period would approve..(I hope)
Good Friday
A day of peace,
Gather your sorrows
And lay them at His feet.
Be one with the perfection
Of His death.
He understands.
Pain.
Hurt.
Disappointment.
He cries out.
"My God, My God,
Why have you abandoned me"
Eloi, Eloi, Lamma Sabactani.
He felt it too.
Even secure in the Fathers love.
He questions.
So very human.
So divine.
On this day,
We contemplate death.
We mourn.
Darkness
Surrounds us.
Yet,
At the very edges
Of our sight,
A glimmer.
Faintest light.
Teases us.
Offers hope.
Waits.
Grows.
Like the swelling
Music.
Our souls know
He will Rise.
