This is labeled " Markethouse, Looking East ". Also pretty easy for even me to get my bearings. That never happens! :geek: It's an era photograph, albeit seems to be post-battle? Only am saying that because there appear to be ruined buildings. While only one civilian casualty ( amazingly ) occurred, homes were damaged during the battle. Destroyed? Unsure. I've looked for statistics since they must exist somewhere, on how many and which but am unable to find them.

Maybe this is a fairly common photo for those who are conversant with All Things Gettysburg, never bumped into it before.

Anyone know of where I can find a 3D viewer? An old-timey thingy, for pics such as this? I have a book full of Civil War photos (3D) that was supposed to come with a viewer but the viewer was missing from the book. Dang!!

Amazon :)

And these days they come in many versions, including portable fit in your pocket, which come handy.

Also ebay- you can find anything on ebay . Fell off your horse, ran away? It's on ebay the next day. 6 gazillion piece puzzle missing the little edge in the corner? Ebay. Need size 6.5 shoe, women's, manufactured only for 2 months in 1939, and only want the left shoe? Ebay. Need a neck rub after overdoing in the garden? E..... oh wait, that's Craig's List. :sluggish:

Thanks for posting the photo. Zooming in to enlarge the image shows several partial walls. Imagine those are battle damage. Surprising how the details of the yards, fencing, etc echo the rural flavor while being in town. Must have been a terrible experience for the citizens. Can't totally comprehend all the anxieties and emotions without having lived through them. I'm sure many citizens felt this to be the end when the battle was underway.
