Hello gang, this could be of possible interest especially considering the time of year...

I was in Gettysburg last week and really spent some time digging into the Elliott's burial map and decided to make a short video about what happened to the dead bodies after the Battle. It includes a lot of zoomed-in aftermath photos from Gardner, O'Sullivan and Brady as well as photos from other Civil War sites to help illustrate the point being made.

This video has a lot of GRAPHIC content: viewer discretion is advised.

Yes sir you're correct, once I click the link and it takes me to YouTube. Guess I was early to this page today and at the time the initial 'link' was a black square that couldn't be clicked. Maybe just my PC being uncooperative. Later in the day when I came back into this page the black square was clickable which then required age validation. So not sure what changed.

I'm glad you got to see it, even if it is uncomfortable. I discovered Gregory Coco's book on the day I started shooting the video - I wish I had known about it a week earlier...

Since the photos were in black and white they didn't appear that graphic, but had they been in color... it would have been another story. However with that said, there were three photos in the video that really creeped me out.

But I do feel YouTube was a bit heavy handed with their restriction.

Thanks for watching! I shoot and edit video for a living and so I use my YouTube page as a way to show my portfolio to clients. This makes the content kinda scattered and not very well focused. What I should really do is make another page, one for work stuff and one for fun stuff. One of these days...

This was well done and very, very powerful. In fact, I had to step away from it for a while. Most of us are familiar with the photos and somewhat inured to them. Seeing them with your accompanying narration really ramped up the horror for me.

Wow! I'll take that as a compliment! But yes, the photos accompanied with the burial map and the first person accounts really made me look at the battle and its aftermath differently. War truly is hell and sometimes its good to remind ourselves of that.

I'm working on the 2nd video now and I find myself needing a break from it. It's heavy stuff!

I found the same problem when I read Frassanito's two books, the first on Antietam and then Gettysburg. I found it impossible to delve for any period of time without having to look away.
