New to the forum, but wanted to get an opinion. I saw a set of 25 issues of the Gettysburg Magazine on ebay for $45. Sounds like a good deal, but wanted to know if anyone has read the magazine and thinks it's worth it. It seems to be older issues (#6, 7, 11-12, 15-35 I think). Says their new copies. Thanks for any input.

That's a fantastic deal. They usually run anywhere from 6.00 to 30.00 dollars an issue depending on issue# and condition. I would jump on it - if its legit.

Hello and welcome from 35 miles north of Gettysburg! The magazine Gettysburg is a very nice reference publication and the price you mentioned sounds fantastic if the issues are intact. I have read and re-read the issues on my bookshelf several times and still refer to them occasionally.

It's a bargain and an excellent investment, but as a repeat author perhaps I am biased. The magazine is currently published by the University of Nebraska press. Check out their website to compare prices; I think the older issues are bound together and are available as a complete set.

Thanks for the input and welcomes. Wanted to pass on that I went ahead and ordered the set and it arrived today. It's as advertised. 25 issues. They all look new and unread to me. I checked and the sets are still for sale on ebay. It says there's more than 10 available if anyone else is interested.

Is why we're here, jaytom. I know nothing of the magazine, but it would appear that many do.

Glad you got a good deal. And hey! Welcome aboard!

Enjoy the hours of reading and expect to learn a lot.

Yesterday I found a 2-volume set in Gettysburg--which I didn't buy. It's title was something like: The First Historical Account of Gettysburg.
I just flipped thru it. It had org tables for both sides. There were some rosters for some states or regiments. I should have check publication date but it seemed to be an early history but a new printing.

By the way, any members coming to Gettysburg for our get-together this September might want to plan on purchasing some back issues of Gettysburg Magazine at the American History Store while in Gettysburg.

Ditto.
I would like to browse and read through them but I'm not in the market for a set. I'm trying to clean out my cramped office.

Which reminds me. I have a Gettysburg Park booklet, about 50 pages, that is printed some 80 or years ago. It is full of facts of the monuments and unit organization. Only flaw is it is missing the cover page. I need to find it a new home.
