I was told by the rangers two years ago, as I read the giant monument on Baltimore Street on Cemetary Hill that I wasn't allowed to be in the park after dark...and I was barely in the park and just walking back to the hotel from dinner.
I see where your at. I know this is terrible but go to that motel that is just up from Ginnie. The rooms on the back side over looks the part of the battle there. I forget the room number but the staff seemed to know. Worth a night in a lifetime of Gettysburgs.

If you are are talking about the 1863 Inn, that's where we stay. Great place...overlooks Jennie's kitchen and butts up to the East Cemetary Hill battlefield where the Louisiana Tigers charged from.
Its modern. The place is actually orientated south. This is the back porch on the north side. And yeah it covers that part of the field from the height of a sniper.
