Did newspapers and the public at the time treat Vicksburg with as much fanfare and attention as Gettysburg? Or was the success out West drowned out by the closer war in the East and defeat of Bobby Lee on Union soil?

Technically the Mississippi remained closed until Gardner surrendered Port Hudson to Banks in the week following the Vicksburg surrender, so possibly that could've also had an impact on how Vicksburg was viewed at the time.
