Great photos! I attended the 135th in 1998 and it was a very memorable experience.

Me too! The 135th was fantastic. I was "shot" before I made the fence while with the 17th Mississippi during Picket's Charge.

Glad to see by the pictures here that the event is still a worthy one.

Yep, 135th was a great experience. Was there as a spectator.

I hate to utter the discouraging word, BUT... It's sad to see that even at Gettysburg the number of reenactors is only a shadow of what it was back then:

It was my first large event. I was spoiled by the experience, to say the least. Nothing afterward came close to it.

It was really the last large event for me that I was totally immersed in, and even at the time I thought that it was going out with a BANG!

As it turned out, it was my last as well. I started college soon after and had "other" things on my mind for a few years. However, I will always enjoy my death at the rail fence. It was hot; I was worn out; and it just seemed like the right place to buy the farm.

But yes, it was spectacular. I'm glad I was one tiny part of it.

Don't know about that yet. Will have to check my travel plans agenda once I'm back home to be certain but I think next summer I had nothing big planned as I wanted to have a longer trip in autumn.


Where you a visitor or reenactor? And what @Equestriangirl93 said, bummer! Would have been great meeting you.

Sadly, I do not recall which CS unit we were supposed to portray that day. However, I do recall with fondness the reenactors from the UK who were in line next to us. They were a fun bunch. I also remember guys plotting early deaths in order to "beat the traffic." I think everyone was all played out by that point.
