Looks pretty thin out there (the numbers, not the reenactors!); what was attendance like?

Attendance was definitely down. I can say that because I was there last year also on July 3. I'm pretty sure that the extreme heat (up to 96, heat index 110) was a factor. You also have to take into account that last year, July 3 was on a Monday and part of a 4th of July long weekend. This year, with July 3 being on a Tuesday may also had something to do with low attendance.

Sounds a far cry from the last Gettysburg reenactment I attended, the 135th back in 1998:

This is only one of several Federal battalions, in this case the Frontier Battalion of Western authentics.

The main reenactments this year are happening this weekend, July 5-8 outside of town. My pictures are only a very small contingent who reenacted on July 3. There was not shooting or much of anything.

I was there as well....I think attendance was down mainly because it was it was crazy, crazy hot, and during the weekday when most folks were working. I was also there for the 150th anniversary, and the entire town was MOBBED with people!
