George Leo Frankenstein was an artist who traveled 3000 miles in 1866 mostly by foot visiting battlefields and painting them. He had a total of 138 painting. His story is kind of sad... He changes his last name to Frankenstein...
Here a link to his bio it a story read but his collection was sold off but he tried to find a permanent home for his painting no takers...
