Lee Generalship of Robert E. Lee

There can be little doubt that Lee ranks right up there with history's notable generals. That he did not win his war ought not detract from his ranking. But "better than" is a fruitless pursuit.

There will always be those who say he was the best, and those who find fault -- the discussion of which is always interesting and lively because it inevitably leads to furthering understanding.

Now, here comes the beef. Most don't have the time to watch a speaker video and, when there is time, its location is lost in the many threads and the cobweb strewn channels of memory.

Suggest that a host be sought who has the power to copy such a link to a special forum with a thread for each link, and retitle it if necessary to make the subject precise. (This one is aptly titled.)

This is not to suggest that the original thread is ignored ... I'm suggesting that each thread in the special forum be locked so as to limit discussion to the OP; i.e., FYI. Discuss it in the OP.

Yes, I know one can bookmark such videos and go back and watch, but such a forum -- a collection of scholarly discussions on the Civil War -- would be a service to members of CWT.
