Does anyone have family information for General Joe Johnston? I have tried googling but I am related to him but can't find the connection. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Try this link to his family tree. I've used a site similar to this that lets you click on father and keep going up his tree. You should be able to click on down the tree. Note---it says he had a daughter Emmie Lou (Johnston) Lassiter.

Geni: Major General Joseph Eggleston Johnston (CSA)

This appears to be his ancestor who immigrated to America.

Edmund Johnson (1612 - 1651)
Birthdate: 1612
Birthplace: Wales (United Kingdom)
Death: March 10, 1651 (38-39)
Hampton, (Present Rockingham County), North Plantation (Present New Hampshire), (Present USA)
Immediate Family:
Son of father of Edmund Johnson and Unknown Johnson
Husband of Mary Coleman
Father of Mary Woodin; Peter Johnson; John Johnson; James Johnson and Dorcas Pearson

Ancestry has links to all public trees who have listed descendants of J. E. Johnston---- but it seems they are not the real J E Johnston. There is even one named Joseph Eggleston Johnston (1938-1976) who was born in Virginia.

This link has a history and a link to a PDF of his tree---which I dared not open. He does have this statement: "Joseph married into the Wood family, and the two never had any children. It would be through his older brother and sisters that the line continued."

History Junky: Joseph E. Johnston

Nothing in any of the early chapters in one of the published biographies on Joe Johnston, like 'Joseph E. Johnston: A Civil War Biography' by Craig Symonds?

His father was Judge Peter Johnston Jr, he had six older brothers - amongst whom were John Warfield Johnston Sr, Charles Clement Johnston and Beverly Randolph Johnston.

John Warfield Johnston Sr was the father of US Congressman John Warfield Johnston Jr, and through this line the Johnston's were connected to John B. Floyd as John Jr married Floyd's sister.

Charles Clement Johnston was a US Congressmen and the father of Joe's beloved nephew and surrogate son Preston Johnston who's death in the Mexican War Joe never truly got over.

Beverly Randolph Johnston was Joe's favorite sibling and a lawyer who had no children.

This website has more details but beyond the above - which I know from Symond's biography - I cannot vouch for it's authenticity:
