General Schofield is best remembered for the Battle of Franklin, but he had other things he should be remembered for. Early in the Civil War Schofield helped secure Missouri for the Union and was the commander of The Army of the Ohio during the Atlanta Campaign. However, despite his many accomplishments Schofield was involved in several controversies. Once Schofield asked General Samuel R. Curtis to relieve him after the two had an altercation. When he was in Missouri some though he was not hard enough on Confederate supporters in the state. Sherman did not take Schofield on his March to the Sea. After the Civil War Schofield held many important posts and eventually reached the rank of Lieutenant General.

Although not remembered as an outstanding general I do not think Schofield would be considered a poor general. So what are forum members views on Schofield?
