Hello all,

Hope that this is the correct location to post, but just curious to learn more about the variances in CW gauntlet colors, if I may ask please.

Granted, I realize that a lot of the officer gloves were private purchase. But, on average, were the yellow gloves (expanded cuff) more cavalry / campaigner in nature and the white gauntlet leaning towards having served as a dress piece / for photograph, more or less?

Thank you for any information as well as checking out the attached images.
Sincerely,

From family letters: Tom Jeffers of the Hampton Legion Cavalry, in Virginia in September 1861, wrote to his brother in Charleston with a list of military-type clothing he needed. He concluded with: "Send me also a pair of Gauntletts - Buckskin." I guess that is kind of yellowish tan? Buff color? I can't imagine that white gloves or gauntlets would be used for daily wear.
