Week 4, Quiz B, Saturday, 3/27/2010, answers due by wednesday, 3/31, 6pm.

Questions concerning the organization within the army pertain to the Civil War Federal army, with all units at full strength. Many answers are correct for the Confederate army as well, but my source refers at this time to the Union army.

1. Generally speaking, in the Civil War, how many commissioned officers does a 'company' have?


2. During the Civil War, how many companies comprise a regiment, generally speaking, if the regiment is considered staffed up?


3. How many battalions, during the Civil War, comprise a regiment, on average?


4. How many Lieutenant colonels were found in a typical Civil War regiment?


5. Who is this Lincoln administration official?

Clarification on question 2: In a fully staffed regiment of infantry in the CW, how many companies would comprise the regiment?
