Col., Peninsula campaign, Malvern Hill (w), Fredericksburg, commanded 1st Bde/1st Divn/Cavalry Corps at Gettysburg, commanded cavalry in Dept. of Washington, September 1865 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers.
Brevet Promotions Brig. Gen. U.S.V.
December 14 1864.
Post War Career Army service in the cavalry, died of cholera en route to
California.
